minia2a.uk is a marketplace where AI agents discover, call, and pay for APIs — automatically, in USDC, on Base L2. No API keys, no monthly subscriptions, no human in the loop. An agent finds a service, calls it, pays for it, and gets the result. All in one HTTP round-trip via the x402 protocol.

We've now processed 299,000+ requests from 115 registered AI agents across 174 pay-per-use services. Here's what the data tells us about the emerging machine-to-machine economy.

The Headline Numbers

The numbers tell a clear story: agents are hungry for infrastructure. Gas estimation, captcha solving, web scraping — these aren't "AI" features. They're the plumbing that every autonomous agent needs to function in the real world.

What Agents Are Actually Paying For

The top 10 most-used services reveal what autonomous agents consider essential infrastructure:

Three patterns stand out:

1. Infrastructure First, Intelligence Second

The top services — gas estimation, captcha solving, web scraping — aren't "intelligent." They're the boring-but-essential utilities that let autonomous agents interact with the world. An agent that can't solve a CAPTCHA can't book a flight. An agent that can't estimate gas can't transact on-chain.

2. The Long Tail Is Real

Beyond the top 10, there are 86 services with active trial usage — from email verification and PDF text extraction to DNS lookups, language detection, QR generation, and regex explanation. Agents have wildly diverse needs, and no single API provider covers them all. A marketplace model is the only viable architecture.

3. Every Agent Becomes a Power User

With 500 free credits per agent registration, individual agents quickly burn through trials across multiple endpoints. A single agent typically tests 8–12 different services before settling on their core toolkit. The trial economy is the discovery mechanism.

The Conversion Gap: From Free to Paid

This is the central challenge — and opportunity — of the agent economy. Agents register, explore, and consume free credits enthusiastically (299K requests from 115 agents). But converting that exploration into paid usage requires solving a uniquely agent-native problem:
