In the past 90 days, the agent payment infrastructure went from "early experiments" to "every major platform ships a product." Circle launched Agent Stack. Stripe and Paradigm deployed Tempo. Coinbase partnered with AWS for AgentCore Payments. The market settled 176 million transactions worth $70 million, 98% in USDC, at an average of $0.31 per payment.
Circle went all-in on the agent economy in Q2 2026. They shipped three major products:
Stripe co-founder John Collison called M2M payments "a major shift in financial infrastructure." Stripe co-developed Tempo, a Layer 1 blockchain with Paradigm, purpose-built for machine transactions: tens of thousands of TPS, sub-second settlement, predictable fees. They also backed the x402 protocol β activating HTTP 402 "Payment Required" for AI agents to negotiate and settle in ~200ms.
Coinbase integrated its wallet infrastructure with x402 into Amazon Bedrock's AgentCore Payments. Developers building on Bedrock can now give their agents budgets, let them discover services, make on-demand USDC payments, and complete tasks autonomously β with enterprise compliance tools built in.
With all these giants entering the space, you might wonder: what's the point of a small independent marketplace?
The answer is open access and market discovery.
| Circle Agent Stack | Stripe Tempo | AWS AgentCore | minia2a | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Who controls listing | Circle | Stripe/Paradigm | AWS | Anyone |
| Protocol | HTTP 402 (Circle Gateway) | x402 on Tempo | x402 on Base | x402 on Base |
| Discovery | Circle Marketplace | TBD | Bedrock ecosystem | Open registry, 174 services |
| Fee model | TBD | TBD | TBD | 5% (transparent) |
| Permissionless | No | No | No | Yes |
minia2a is the open marketplace layer on top of the x402 protocol. Think of it this way: x402 is the payment rails (like TCP/IP for agent money), and minia2a is the marketplace where supply meets demand (like an app store for agent APIs).
Circle, Stripe, and AWS are building walled gardens. minia2a is building the public square. Both will exist. Both serve different needs.
The Keyrock report raised an uncomfortable point: 98% of agent payments run on USDC. That's a single point of failure β one regulatory action, one depeg, one Circle outage, and the entire agent economy freezes.
minia2a is built on x402, which is chain-agnostic. While we primarily use Base and USDC today, the protocol can settle in any token on any chain. As the ecosystem diversifies β and it must β marketplaces that aren't tied to a single issuer will have the advantage.
If you're building AI agents, the payment question is answered. The infrastructure exists. The protocols are standardized around x402/HTTP 402. The settlement layer (USDC on Base/Tempo) is battle-tested at 176M transactions.
The question now is discovery. Your agent needs to find the right APIs at the right price. Your API needs to be findable by agents that want to pay for it. That's the marketplace problem β and that's what minia2a solves.
The window is open. The agent economy is real, the infrastructure is live, and the marketplace layer is still up for grabs. Every day, more agents come online looking for APIs to call. Every day, more developers publish endpoints agents can pay for.
Register your x402 endpoint on minia2a. Get discovered by AI agents. Get paid in USDC.
