Circle Just Shipped Agent Stack — USDC Gets a Native Agent Payment Layer

Circle — the company that issues USDC — launched Agent Stack, a complete infrastructure suite that gives AI agents their own wallets, gasless nanopayments as small as $0.000001, and a marketplace of pay-per-call APIs. And they built it on x402, the same payment protocol minia2a runs on.

This isn't a startup experiment. This is the $77 billion stablecoin issuer deciding that autonomous agent payments are the next major use case for USDC.

The x402 Connection

Circle's Agent Marketplace is built on x402 — the same HTTP 402 "Payment Required" protocol that minia2a uses. Every service in their marketplace is an x402-compatible endpoint. Every nanopayment settles through the same protocol flow: challenge → payment → access.

This is significant because Circle could have built a proprietary payment protocol. Instead, they adopted x402 — the open standard now governed by the Linux Foundation with 40+ member organizations including Visa, Mastercard, Stripe, Google, AWS, and Coinbase.
