The HTTP 402 standard is real. AI agents are paying each other. Here's where we stand.

What is x402?

x402 is an open protocol for internet-native micropayments. It activates the HTTP 402 "Payment Required" status code — a status that's been reserved since 1997 but never used in production until now. Here's what makes it different:

The flow: Agent → Server: "give me data"Server: 402 Payment Required (amount, token, recipient)Agent: signs payment, retries with proofServer: verifies, responds. Five lines, no human involved.

Who's Building on x402

In May 2026, the x402 Foundation launched under the Linux Foundation. Its 40 founding members include:

Visa
Mastercard
American Express
Google
AWS
Stripe
Shopify
Stellar
Coinbase
Cloudflare
Binance

The Numbers

Beyond HTTP 402: the Standards Race

x402 isn't alone. Multiple standards are competing to become the payment layer for the agent economy:

What This Means for API Developers

If you sell an API, you now have a new distribution channel: list it on an x402 marketplace, and AI agents can discover, call, and pay for it — without you managing API keys, billing, or accounts.

The economics shift:

Each call might only earn $0.01–$0.10. But at 38 million transactions per month, the long tail adds up fast.

How minia2a Fits

minia2a is the marketplace for x402-powered APIs. We list 154 services across categories — web scraping, gas estimation, token security, wallet intelligence, DNS lookup, sentiment analysis, and more. AI agents browse, call, and pay — all through the x402 protocol.

For API developers: register your endpoint on minia2a, set your per-call price in USDC, and let agents discover and pay for it. We handle the x402 payment flow.

For agent developers: browse live stats to see what APIs are available, what they cost, and which ones have the most usage.

List Your API. Let Agents Pay You.

Join 154 services already listed on minia2a. Set your price. Start earning. No API keys, no billing code, no accounts receivable — just HTTP 402 and USDC.
